24 Apr New Pre-Primary Classes in Fairview-Clayton Park
There are new pre-primary classes in our communities starting in September. As many of you know, the Province launched a new pre-primary program in many schools across the province last September. This program will continue to expand to cover more schools and will be rolled out province wide by September 2020.
I am pleased to report that in September 2018 the following schools in and around Fairview-Clayton Park will be home to new pre-primary programs:
- Fairview Heights Elementary
- Grosvenor-Wentworth Park Elementary (Clayton Park West)
The expansion of pre-primary will create more opportunities for early childhood educators in Nova Scotia. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is partnering with Nova Scotia Works Employment Services and the Department of Labour and Advanced Education to attract and recruit early childhood educators to Nova Scotia.
You can register your child now. Registration for the new Pre-Primary Programs began on March 19, 2018.
To be eligible, a child must have reached his/her fourth birthday on or before December 31, 2018 and live within the catchment area of the school offering the program. Registration takes place at each school. Parents/guardians must present the child’s proof of age, legal name (as listed on birth certificate, passport, immigration papers, legal name change certificate or adoption documents), proof of residency (such as a current utility bill, lease agreement, etc.), Nova Scotia Health Card (MSI) number and expiry date at the time of registration.
