Support for Nova Scotia’s skilled trades students

Students facing financial challenges now have the opportunity to apply for the $5,000 Growing Nova Scotia’s Skilled Trades Workforce Bursary. This bursary aims to assist with tuition fees and expenses for students training in high-demand construction trades programs at NSCC campuses throughout Nova Scotia.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this bursary, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled full-time in the first year of one of the 19 construction programs at NSCC.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

While priority will be given to equity-deserving students, all students facing financial challenges are encouraged to apply. Those who are awarded the bursary in the current year will have the opportunity to renew their application for the second year of their studies.

  • Oil Heat Systems Technician Certificate

Application Process

Applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Financial need
  • Interest and commitment to the program
  • Good academic standing

Applications are open until July 18. NSCC students can apply through the college awards portal.

Preference will be given to individuals who self-identify as members of equity-deserving groups, including Mi’kmaw/Indigenous, Black/African Nova Scotian, racially visible communities, persons with disabilities, individuals of minority sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, as well as women and newcomers/recent immigrants.
