Congratulations to Emily Williams

Emily is a constituent of Clayton Park/Fairview and was part of the St. Thomas University team who came second at the 10th Annual Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition!

In order to qualify for this competition, Emily and her teammate, Camille Xavier, had to submit two legal brides on the right to life, prohibition of torture, and the right to found a family and related rights and earn a place in the Top 10 of our UN region (Western Europe and others). They did so, and their briefs placed in the Top 10. They then were invited to go to Geneva to compete in oral arguments, which took place last week.

Emily and Camille ranked third overall in the preliminary rounds, which earned them a spot in the semi-final round, which they won, which earned them a spot in the final round. In the end, they fell to the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Again, congratulations to both Emily, Camille and their coach Emma Walsh!
